Your best bet catching bass is to use a medium heavy action pole, Number 2 or number 3 straight seedless hooks. The sinker/weight should be bullet weights 1/16oz or 1/8oz, depending on the size of your rubber worm. I use 7 1/2in to 12in size bait. Culprit or Charlies worms are the easiest to find and have a great rubber worm supply with many options. I only use rubber worms. Red shad worms, red shinny shad worms, purple worms, blue lizards, Yellow worms, gold worms. There are many options that do the trick. But these fake bait work the best for me. Obviously I don't use bobbers. Depending on the time of the year I fish different ways. Summer time, I bottom fish, meaning, I cast out, let the bait sink to the bottom, then slowly reel in. In spring fish are nesting. So, the female fish is out hunting for food, while the male protects the nesting bed. So, In times like these you can medium fish, which means, you don't let the bait sink to the bottom. You keep the bait in the middle, not the bottom, not the top. Or bottom fish, slowly reeling, trying to reel through the nest, where the male fish will attack your bait, to protect his nesting bed. Winter is a hard time to fish, as well as the changing of the seasons. The temperature in the water changes drastically, which make the fish act abnormally. But you can still catch fish in winter, by bottom fishing, slowly. Any questions, feel free to ask, on the contact tab.
